Up Beat is a rhythm music game that draws it’s inspiration from the Guitar Hero series. Obviously it plays differently and looks different, but the basic idea is the same.

In the game, rather than using a guitar you play using your computers keyboard. The letters A, S, D, J, K, L, and the Spacebar make your instrument come to life. You have a power bar so make sure you get all the notes, or it’ll be game over. This is particularly challenging on the later levels as the notes move very quickly, and in rather complicated patterns.

The game isn’t perfect, it can be a little jerky occasionally and the notes don’t always play on time, as the person who made this game, I can only apologise for this. I tried my best so go easy on me :)

Thanks to the author of this youtube video that shows the game quite nicely (it’s a great feeling when you see videos of stuff you’ve worked on put online).

There is a wide range of music and difficulty on offer. Most of the music was licensed from Universal so we have real artists making real sounds in the game. It’s a nice feature and adds a lot to the experience but I would have liked to get a bit more rock/ metal in there. Maybe if it’s popular we can get that in the sequel.

I’d love to hear what people think about Up Beat. Personally I really like it… but then I’m not what you’d call impartial.

yeah, i loved blown away too, what’s the name of the band? Pump?

Unfortunately the two Pump songs were sold to Miniclip by a company called Pump, they aren’t for sale. All the rest are Universal artists and are available in the UK and, I assume, the rest of the world.

Oh I never realised you made this! :-) Now I have to try it out…

You have got to make a second one. Also please ask miniclip to get the 2 songs from pump out on itunes.

Please post sensibly, conversation is encouraged, flames will be deleted
