Kyle Gabler and co are making what looks to be one of the most advanced flash games of the year in World of Goo, however whilst they're not working on that, they're making other stuff. In this case Robot and the Cities.
This game is actually a prototype, but what is there works very well. Currently there are only two robots to choose from and it's impossible to get a game over, but it's enough fun that it warrants a mention on Webgame Wednesdays.
The game features a series of Robots trying to take over the world. You start with a single Robot destroying the humans collecting their hearts (the games currency). Harvest hearts and you can spend them on upgrades and more robots. The game is almost exclusively about resource management but it's all dressed up in such a way that it looks like some sort of invasion of earth.
Whilst it starts off very slowly, the difficulty and interest levels soon ramp up until you are frantically juggling your time between creating new robots, collecting hearts, and recharging existing bots.
