Webgame Wednesday : Portal
The full version of Portal is 1 part of the Orange Box, a game package from the incredibly clever bods at Valve. It’s good stuff – incredibly clever, and very enjoyable.
Amazingly a group of talented developers have managed to create a flash version of the game. There’s some clever code going on in there, and I like it a lot.
If you’ve seen the pc game then you just need the link and you can try it out for yourself.
If you haven’t seen the game then here’s a little more info. In Portal you have a gun that opens doorways (portals) for you to travel through. Shoot at walls to create the portals. Two are required. Go in one portal and you will pop out of the other. However things get more challenging. There are various objects you can interact with (crates, guns etc) which can be manipulated to trigger switches and other mechanisms.
Below I have included a complete walkthrough for the game. I would recommend only watching the first few to get a grip on the concept and then use it for reference if you’re really stuck. Apparently the video shows a big spoiler at the end as well, so be careful if you want to complete it yourself.
