This ones an oldie but a goodie. I was reminded of it because of the recent news that it was to be ported to Nintendo DS and PSP by the clever people who made Eets.

N is a very challenging physics web based (flash) based platform game released for free a couple of years ago. In fact it’s so famous it even has it’s own wikipedia page… that hasn’t been deleted by some over zealous moderator!

You take the part of a tiny platform jumping Ninja, running and jumping around some crazy geometric levels avoiding all sorts of robotic enemies. The game is a HUGE challenge, and learning to control N perfectly requires the kind of skill I just don’t have. However you can also view replays of people online who have completed the levels, and just watching the levels play through is a wonder all of it’s own. You can try the levels yourself but I can almost guarantee that you won’t be half as good as these people. Of course with practice you may beat them, but you’ll need a LOT of practice.

Unfortunately, despite the game being made in Flash, it’s only available as a download (technically not a webgame then… but I shall break my own rule this one time). Thankfully you can download N for PC, Mac, and Linux here.

i have this game on my computer in my room and the only problem i run into is bad lag on my stinky Pentium iii. so i have to learn to play with a lagtime of a about a eighth of a second and that can get really annoying on levels that require precise jumps, it also makes for more ninja training with the laggy controls.
