Webgame Wednesday : Intrusion
Intrusion is a heavily physics based sidescrolling platform shoot em up. That is, you play a marine, running and jumping whilst shooting at other marines.
The game is a little rough around the edges but there is a lot of stuff going on.
In the first 5 minutes of play you will crash land on an ice based planet, shoot some marines, hang from some very stretchy telegraph/ power cables, watch an airship arrive and drop off some more marines (like something out of HALO 3), get attacked by some crazy buzz saws…. and more.
There were a couple of places where I found myself getting stuck but generally the solution is quite straight forward (and just me doing something silly).
The graphics aren’t too bad, I found them a little rough but they are more than presentable. Likewise the animation feels a bit funny, but I get the impression it’s done through code, rather than by hand, and this always makes things feel more mechanical and less natural.
Difficulty wise the game offers up some challenge. I did find a couple of enemies that appeared to be either very hard to kill, or impossible to kill - either way I didn’t kill them… and they were a pain the neck.
Apparently the game gets better the further you go, but unfortunately I haven’t gotten far enough to test this theory - however based on what I have played, I can believe it’s so.
Still - there’s plenty of fun to be had in Intrusion - recommend giving it a play and making up your own mind. Let me know what you think in the comments ![]()
