Webgame Wednesday : Gemcraft

Yes, it’s another Tower Defense game, but this one plays a little differently. Gemcraft starts off each level with a number of towers and a number of gems. The gems are what defend you. Upgrade the tower involves combining the gems to form more powerful versions.

As you get further into the game you earn money, and this can be spent on new tower upgrades and gems, with which to protect your city (some things stay the same).

The game seems to be made by the same developer as the recent Balloon Invasion (also a tower defence with a difference type of game), the menus have a very similar structure, and, the games both feature the skills system - which let’s you spend experience points to improve your statistics between levels.
