Fancy Pants has gotten quite a bit of press lately. Largely due to the demo of his second outing... World 2. However both games so far are very nicely put together platforming games that show a level of detail rarely seen in Flash games.
The levels in Fancy Pants are actually rather reminiscent of the levels you would find in a Sonic game with loads of twists and turns and loops, and Fancy Pants is a pretty swift character as well. On top of this Fancy Pants has a couple of cool moves up his sleeves (in particular in the second game) in which he can do wall jumps, and hang from cables, combine these with his stunning sense of acrobatic flair and you have one nimble little dude... with bright orange pants (aka trousers in England).
The graphics have a lovely sketchy style, however I can see how it wouldn't be to every bodies taste. The pants are a particularly fetching shade of orange.
In my opinion the weakest part of the game is the enemies, they just don't seem to fit and the collision on them is a little dodgy. I would prefer it if the game revolved around exploration and acrobatics and removed the enemies entirely - however there are only a handful of them and they don't get in the way too much.
Technically there are no other platform games like this on the web, the dynamism of the character is marvellous and I'm looking forward to seeing the completed World 2 (and any following worlds).
Check them out now on Kongregate...
