Epsilon is an intriguing game. Apparently it started development around the time Portal was announced, with the intention of being released at the same time. As is probably obvious, the deadline was missed, but the extra polish and features make it quite a different beast.
Epsilon is a puzzle game through and through. You are tasked with getting a ball from one point in a maze to another. To do this, you make use of gravity, and some portal like holes. Rather than shoot the portals from a gun, you drag them around the walls of the level. It sounds a touch boring but the variety and additions make it considerably more enjoyable than it sounds.
The graphics use the increasingly popular neon style - a look that is easy to produce (and just as important, easy to make look good) for even the most artistically challenged. To be fair, it does use styles and effects that are a step above the average game of this type.
The puzzles start easy and, initially at least, play the way I imagine a 2d version of Portal would. However things soon become quite challenging, and you will actually have to think things through to progress.
Initially the games inspiration is quite obvious, but these thoughts soon disappear and Epsilon is able to stand on it's own more than well enough.
