Webgame Wednesday : Alpha Bounty
Alpha Bounty is an exciting home made shoot ‘em up developed by the wonderfully titled NutStation.
In Alpha Bounty you pilot a small craft blowing up other ships and asteroids. It all starts off a bit pedestrian to be honest. However as you get further into the game more and more interesting things happen until you’re engulfed in a storm of bullets.
Like all of the best web games, Alpha Storm has a store, where you can upgrade weaponry and your ship. I always think a store adds a lot to a game. It gives you a lot more variety and possibilities – even making a strictly linear game like this seem more in your control – you can adjust the game to your playing style.
Alpha Bounty uses the ever popular hand drawn style ad it’s all perfectly functional. The graphics also improve as the game progresses, since more complex enemies appear alongside more detailed background. It’s not a stunning looking game but you’ll be able to keep you dinner down.
It seems to be a common, but unintentional, trend amongst flash games recently for them to start off a bit rubbish – and then improve the more you play. Alpha Bounty is one of these, and I would say it’s worth playing past the first 5 minutes so that you can see some of the more interesting elements.
