Web Game Wednesday – Hoshi Saga
This game is a beautiful example of simplicity and joy. The concept is simple, find the star, but this isn’t always a straight forward task.
Some of the challenges are simple and some very challenging.
Some of the solutions are obvious and others more obscure.
The greyscale look is lovely and clean, and is used to create a large array of very different visuals. The differences go beyond the aesthetic too, with each level playing entirely differently. The premise is simple, “find the star“, but the method for hiding the star is different in every game.
Essentially Hoshi Saga boils down to a collection of very nice mini games, following a unifying theme, but it’s all done with such a sense of style that the simplicity turns into a form of complexity.
I love this game, yet I completed it within the space of about 30 minutes. It’s a lovely time waster and more than deserving of a post for my third Webgame Wednesday game. Check it out and be overjoyed (unfortunately the authors website is down so I am linking to a mirror).

Damn you Ben, completing that was the most infuriating thing I have ever done. Yet I want more of that starry deliciousness.
Ha Haa – we went through the same in the office when we first found it. You should have asked if you needed any help. It’s so morish isn’t it?
