I am a big fan of the Time Crisis games, they are without doubt the series I have put the most money into in the arcade. The adrenaline rush, the precision, the joy at a perfect run – awesome. I must admit I’ve never actually completed the game, I can’t afford to practice enough, but I can get quite a way and still think they’re great.

Now Time Crisis 4 is out on the PS3… and it has the new GunCon 3. This thing looks like it was inspired by the Wii Zapper, although I don’t doubt they were both developed separately. It has a handle at the front and two analogue sticks one on the handle, and one at the back. Between these you have the chance to walk around the environment yourself rather than being trapped on rails.

I wonder what will happen with left handed players since the gun has the second stick and handle pushed over to the left. I guess left handed gamers are used to this but I’d be interested to hear from people who have to go through this.

I find it interesting that they have added mini games/ party games. It’s great that they’ve added so much additional content. Traditionally I have always felt the Time Crisis (and similar) games have been a bit light weight in the home, since they are designed to suck down your pocket change, and not to provide any lasting replay value.

Does anyone know if this is in the arcade yet? I haven’t been to one in so long that I don’t know what is available.

I love Time Crisis too (in fact I love Virtua Cop as well). I complered Time Crisis 2 on PS2, it was great. But then I got a plasma TV and can’t play my old gun games any more, sniff :-(
