Splinter Cell Conviction : Trailer and gameplay video
Ooh - like Assassins Creed the new Splinter Cell (titled Conviction) was shown at UbiDays 2007 and I have the trailer for you here.
The Splinter Cell series is another of the wonders from Ubisoft, and a game I keep on buying. One of the things I like about Ubisoft is that they do try to do new things with each iteration of their games, and Splinter Cell: Conviction is the biggest departure from the previous games. Last time around Sam ditched his goggles, this time he’s drop the rest of the flashy gadgets as well. He’s also out of the shadows and wandering around a fully inhabited environment.
First you should check out the trailer…
As you can see there are all sorts of physics based goodies going on. The fights look great with tables and chairs being thrown around, glass smashed and various other objects being scattered every which way. You can also see that Sam appears to be spending a lot more time out of doors, and he’s taken on the look of a vagrant as well.
I think that comparisons with the Bourne Identity movie are more than fair, and I love that film!
Now for some actual gameplay.
There’s a talk going on during the gameplay so I don’t really need to say anything. I will point out that I think the more fluid animation looks marvellous and the larger emphasis on fighting (and not so much on guns) and using your environment to your advantage are very welcome to me.
