Sonic Adventures DS is a sidescrolling Sonic game. The 2d Sonic games have always been the best (my personal fave being the first GameGear version). In recent years Sonic has lost his way with the best game being the Sonic Rush on the DS, so the sequel should be very interesting.

One of the things I liked about the first Sonic DS game, was the use of 3d elements making him swing in and out of the screen which, along with the 3d boss battles, made the game feel different, without changing the game the way the 3d console games did.

I also like the look of the pirate themed-ness of it all. Being able to theme all the levels around the story gives a different twist to the standard Sonic format.

Sonic Rush IS the saviour to the Sonic franchise! Although the 1st was overly hard in later levels, it was the best Sonic for many years taking the best of 2D and sticking in some of the 3D as well as you say.

I can’t wait for the sequel, especially as it seems more varied.

A-Mazing trailer. If only I had a Nintendo DS, I’d get this game for sure! Here’s what I like about the trailer:

* Side-scrolling adventure. Having the latest tech in a game is a high-point, but this old-school method is just plain FUN.
* Variety, variety. There’s some 3D gaming intermingled in here, and it seems to flow perfectly with the rest of the storyline.
* It has pirates. What more is there to say?

This game look very fun indeed. And that’s what it’s all about. I think sony and Microsoft are too pre-occupied with making their stuff look visually impressive, whereas Nintendo’s recent output is all about the gameplay and the fun factor. (And by Nintendo, I guess I mean Sega)
