Sociotown is a new massive multiplayer online game (mmog), and it has just entered public beta phase. The most interesting part about the game is it's 3d, and in a web browser. In the past online mmog's have generally been 2d so it's nice to see these things join the 21st century (not that there's anything wrong with 2d!).
Below is a video trailer for the game showing how nice it all looks. However one thing that stands out for me is the scale. The rooms are vast (to accommodate lots of people) but in the outside world, the roads are tiny, 2 lanes and you fill them both with your giant feet! Admittedly it's not particularly important, and could be solved by removing the white lines, but still... it amuses me
If you're interested then you can jump into the open beta now. Just remember, it's a beta, so there are likely to be problems.

That is so cute. Wonder what technologies they use to render such a world in the browser.
Eli James » The game is running in Shockwave, and I assume uses some custom server side code.
