Some big news from Nintendo yesterday. They had their conference in Japan and what was expected to be a quiet afair has turned into a massive news fest. Highlights are listed below…

• Mario Kart is coming to the Wii in Spring next year. As well as Karts it has motorbikes.
• Mario Baseball is also being made
• Sonic is going to be in Super Smash Brothers
• WiiWare is going to launch in March with a new Final Fantasy Crystal Chronicles game. There will also be Dr. Mario, Pokemon Rancher, and Star Soldier
• The Wii is also going to have downloadable demos for DS games (excellent idea)
• Two new Wii channels have been announced. The Mii Contest Channel where you can show off your Miis and get the judged, and Everybody’s Nintendo Channel where you can view promotional stuff (much like the Metroid promo recently – a better way for managing them too)

There are a whole bunch of videos and screenshots and I will be posting them over the next couple of days. From what I have seen so far (and there is more to come) the Wii’s quiet period is over. There’s lots of coolness on the way.
