Jonathon Blow has posted some new screenshots for Braid, a games whos gameplay and visual style haves long intrigued me. In thumbnails the game look a little messy, enlarge the pictures and you can see the game clearly takes traditional painted art as it's key design aesthetic.
When I make games I like to try a different style each time. Invariably the games end up looking like a game made by me, there are various tell tale traits I can't seem to shake, but I like to think I have done something different with each one. Braid, on the other hand, takes it to a new level. Initially I wasn't too impressed with the graphics but I am slowly coming round and these latest screenshots are really doing it for me. I must agree with one of the commenters though ... the typography on the final screenshot is just plain rubbish. Some simple changes would easily fix it.
You can check out all the new Braid screenshots on the Braid Game blog.

Ohh looking nice, i'm going to enjoy this one. I notice your traits too, but to me this is a good thing as it's kind of a branding that distinguishes you as a developer.
Keep up the good work, it's looking smicko so far.
