My Nintendo DS Games Wish List…

Since buying a DS for my 6 year old son and myself, I’ve only purchased 3 games for it (because I’ve been too busy programming my latest game, sniff). They are all great games (New Super Mario, Pokemon Pearl, Nanostray) but I HUNGER for more - and I aim to get some good playtime in over Christmas.

So I’ve spent a little time compiling a list of hot DS games that I ought to keep an eye out for as follows:

  • Advance Wars: Dual Strike
  • Yoshi’s Island DS
  • The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass
  • Elite Beat Agents
  • Mario & Luigi: Partners in Time
  • Castlevania: Dawn of Sorrow
  • Metroid Prime: Hunters
  • Kirby: Canvas Curse
  • animal crossing: wild world
  • Castlevania: Portrait of Ruin
  • Age of Empires: The Age of Kings
  • Metroid Prime Pinball (w/Rumble Pak)
  • Sonic Rush
  • Puzzle Quest: Challenge of the Warlords
  • Tiger Woods PGA Tour 08
  • Sonic Rush Adventure
  • Final Fantasy III

Quite a big list I know. Basically I think I’m mainly going to be into platformers and RPGs on the Nintendo DS, but I thought I’d branch out into some other types of games a) to see how they use the stylus and b) so that my son can play a variety of games that improve his skills. I don’t have many sports titles, as I’m not a big fan but I couldn’t resist adding in a Tiger Woods title :-)

I’ve even build up a “Maybe” list as follows:

  • Meteos
  • Super Mario 64 DS
  • Hotel Dusk: Room 215
  • Mario vs. Donkey Kong 2: March of the Minis
  • Bomberman Land Touch!
  • Chibi-Robo: Park Patrol
  • Final Fantasy Fables: Chocobo Tales
  • LostMagic
  • Resident Evil: Deadly Silence
  • Etrian Odyssey
  • Zoo Keeper
  • Dragon Quest Heroes: Rocket Slime
  • The New York Times Crosswords

And I’ll probably get some of those brain training games for my son (I don’t need them, there’s nothing to train ;-p - after, all a fly inside my head is called a “space invader”)

So anyway, if I’ve missed any absolute CLASSICS, then please let me know, thanks! :-)

Hope you don’t mind Jake - I tweaked the formatting to make the post a little neater :)

Regarding other games, Mario Kart is conspicuous in it’s absence. As is Pokemon. Off the top of my head I can’t think of any other “must haves”, although I am sure there are some… and I have about 75% of the ones in your “to buy” list :)

Yep looks better thanks.

Mario Kart, well I have it for the Gamecube and thought I could give it a miss. Already have Pokemon Pearl. You have 75% of them, wow :-) I’ve got some catching up to do!

Just counted - 75% was a small exagerration. I have 7 of the 17 you mentioned :)

Mario Kart for the DS is better than the Gamecube one. It’s more traditional, a cross between the snes and N64 versions.

41% pah! I guess Mario Kart is fully wireless, my son could compete with the neighbours kid - but he’d just get moody if he list.

I just ordered Metal Slug Advance which’ll plug into this! (was like £3 on ebay!)

how much do you charge for your games?

That’s a strange question Tony. Can you be more specific please?
