More Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

Well, the other day I downloaded the Ninja Turtles demo, and I have now played it.

My verdict?

Dissapointed.

Why?

It was too damn short. It took me longer to download the demo than it did to finish it, but what I saw of the game was great.

The game is a platofrm beat me up which, as mentioned before, is very similar to the Prince of Persia game series. You take control of various turtles (in the demo you can switch between Michalengelo and Dontatello. You control one at a time but can switch whenever you like, and do tag team moves whilst fighting, or to cross large gaps (throw each other long distances).

The controls are very fluid and you are moving all the time, grabbing hold of the wall, doing double jumps (not seen in Prince of Persia for obvious reasons).

The game, as expected really, looks wonderful. What I have seen is based on New York rooftops with lots of gritty urban textures, and steam rising from ... things (chimneys I guess). The camera is on rails moving depending upon your position, which can be annoying as the direction you are moving is changing constantly (the age old camera problem) - however for the most part it was fine.

Naturally Youtube comes up trumps once again so below is the video trailer for the game.

Interestingly I have also just seen some screenshots of the Nintendo DS version of the game and it looks suprisingly good. You can check them out on worthplaying.com.

Anyway - this is yet another game I am really looking forward to getting - it's certainly at the top of my "to buy" list. I also wonder if I should look at getting the DS version too?
