A couple of interesting games have been mentioned recently on the Blitz Forums where I hang out (because I program my games in Blitz).
Monkeys
The first one is called Darwin the Monkey and is programmed in Delphi. That's an interesting choice for programming a game in. I made Server/Client business software with Delphi and SQL for 9 years and I tried to make a few games but my old version of Delphi was just not good enough.
Anyway, the game is a single screen platformer with very nicely done graphics and some cool game physics. It's by the same people who made Inca Quest, which is great fun. Basically you are a monkey and a load of jungle frogs have stolen your bananas so you have to get them back by pushing them into your balloon. It's fairly simple but well done. Kids will love it (I know cos I played it with my own kids).
Bees
The second game is Bizzy's Spelling Bee and it's programmed in Blitz Max (the language that I use). It's a neat word game where you have to spell out words on the honeycomb to progress through the level. It's nicely put together and you'll probably find it fun. This is also good for older kids who can practice their spelling.
