Mario Party 8 – new screenshots
McBacon over at British Gaming Blog has posted 58 Mario Party 8 screenshots. That’s a whole lot of images – and it shows off the game really nicely.
The new Mario Party follows a similar formula to the previous versions but, being developed for the Wii, has a few little changes up it’s sleeve. The most obvious change, at first glance, is the improved graphics. This is certainly going to be the prettiest Mario Party to date, however the interesting bit is the mini games. Like Warioware: Smooth Moves, and even the Wii Sports bundle, this game makes extensive, and very varied, use of the Wiimote.
You can see from the screenshots that you will be balancing on tightropes, racing vehicles, drawing shapes, and jumping skipping ropes… among hundreds of other games I’m sure.
The control method isn’t the only thing to change. From the look of the screenshots the boards that the game is played on have been adjusted so that they, at least superficially, look more like platform game levels. I guess we won’t know how they play until later though.
The Mario Party games can be great fun when you invite a few friends round, and drink a few drinks, but people can get impatient waiting for the fun parts – the mini games – so I hope version 8 focuses more on them and spends less time on the board game.

Interesting. Thanks for providing some facts. All other reviews are from fanboys/fangirls raving about GREAT it’s going to be… and not having seen it, let alone played it.
