Mario Kart has to be one of the greatest video game series of all time. In my opinion it lost it's way a bit on the GameCube but was soon back to form on the Nintendo DS.
Yesterday Mario Kart was announced for the Wii.
The video shown looks like it is largely Mario Kart DS updated for the Wii. A lot of the courses are the same (or similar at least) and the unique carts per character are also there. I'm sure there will be unique tracks too, and I really hope they do what they did with the DS version and have a bunch of updated tracks from the original games.
Another cool thing is the steering wheel add on (shown off by Reggie in the video) which you attack your Wiimote to. Apparently it's not just a shape that goes around the controller, as it has buttons built into it. The steering wheel comes with the game. I assume you'll be able to buy the steering wheels on their own as well, since they will surely be needed for the multiplayer goodness that is surely coming.
