Joystick Johnny

Just been having a blast on a forthcoming retro game called Joystick Johnny (I promise I won’t make any smutty jokes). It’s basically a collection of very well made retro-style mini-games tied together by a plot in which you are Joystick Johnny and you have to hunt down a nasty virus which has infected some arcade machines. You go into each machine (Tron-style) and play the game in order to catch the virus.

The presentation is very good and the arcade games are good classic fun. What’s interesting is that the developer has avoided using commercial names and has got creative instead. For example, in Hogger, you are a hog (not a frog) and have to make your way across the road to your farm. There’s also Shape Invaders, Pizzaroids etc.

I liked this a lot and I’m looking forward to the the release of the full version in July. Oh see if you can beat my high score of 20,800
