Jake’s Game News 3 - Weird Web Games
Even though no one posted any comments on my last game news post (sniff), I will not be deterred! This installment is about some weird web games that I played today after finding them mentioned here.
Menulis
Menulis is a short online game made by two youngsters. It features original (and weird) hand drawn art and a mellow jazz track. It’s not very long and it’s pretty easy (except for the end - if you get stuck, post a comment and I’ll post the solution), but it’s well worth a little play because of its unique style. Oh, read the instructions because they tell you how to use the keys to go up ladders in a not very obvious way.
Miestas
Miestas (click “Play this game”) is the sequel to Menulis and I think it’s better. It has more interesting scenery and crazier puzzles (see the toilet puzzle), also the keys have been simplified including ladder climbing. It was an interesting diversion for a short while so give it a try!
Choice
I thought that Choice was pretty weird but perhaps that’s because I can’t understand Chinese. Anyway it features nicely made graphics partially based on photos (I think) of some interesting locations. Essentially it’s a point and click adventure where you have to hunt the screen for sometimes tiny clickable areas which do something, often unlocking some new clickable areas. It was enjoyable and frustrating. I had to search for a walkthrough in the end. See what you think.
