Introversion anthology
Introversion, one of the better known independent game dev houses, have teamed up with Valve (and Steam) to release a bundle of all of their games, Uplink, Darwinia, and Defcom, for the princely sum of $29 - which is a bargain. However for the week before Christmas this has been dropped to an even nicer $20. I have Steam installed (for Half Life 2) and maybe this will finally be enough to convince me to break open the wallet.
I played the demo of Uplink a long long time ago and was surprised how much I enjoyed it. Darwinia didn’t do much for me but I played the demo shortly after it was released and apparently they have tweaked things considerably since then. Darwinia is a beautiful game and one I have wanted to enjoy for a long time, so I am hoping the things I have heard are true. That leaves Defcon, the game I know least about. I’ve seen a few screenshots but never any running code - Introversion are well known for generating publicity but Defcon seems to have passed me by - maybe now I’ll give it a look and see what I’ve been missing.
