House of the Dead: Overkill – looks crazy

Sega have just released a rather unusual trailer for a brand new House of the Dead game which will be coming to the Wii later this year.

The game, subtitled Overkill, features “violence”, and “black magic” – and if the trailer is anything to go by a variety of strippers, spiders and snakes.

The game has been given a grindhouse feel, with a gritty dirty backdrop. There are also brand new melee moves which make use of the Wiimotes motion sensing abilities.

“We wanted to do something really different with The House of the Dead: OVERKILL,” commented Bradley Crooks, Studio Head at Headstrong Games. “With SEGA, we’ve been able to create a fresh look for the franchise. I think you’ll agree it’s like nothing you’ve seen before on Wii.”

I am a bit of a fan of the arcade versions of House of the Dead but I have concerns that any home version just wouldn’t be worth the money. Once you get the hang of them the arcade games can be beaten relatively quickly, so I prefer to play these games in the arcade rather than in my bedroom. 1 Jake - August 21, 2008: ha, that video is pretty neat, original. I’ve got HOTD 2 and 3 for Wii and they are pretty fun, if dated. But I prefer Umbrella Chronicles.
