Half life Black Mesa trailer

Ok – so let me get this straight. A bunch of video game modders have, as a hobby, recreated the original Half Life game, in the Source engine (the game engine used for Half Life 2). Did I miss anything?

The trailer below for Black Mesa : A Half Life 2 Mod looks absolutely fantastic. There are so many recognisable areas from one of the most iconic games of all time, and they’ve recreated it all. This isn’t just a case of porting it to the new software, all of the models and levels have been rebuilt to make the best use of the code that they can.

Does the fact it’s a fan made mod (ie not official) mean it’s going to be free? Valve should pick this up for sure!
