Grand Theft Auto DS first screenshots

Well, the first Grand Theft Auto: Chinatown Wars screenshots are finally with us. Taken from scans of the latest issue of Nintendo Power they show what we can expect from the DS's first Grand Theft Auto experience.

The screenshots show a cartoony cel shaded game which actually works really well (I think). The style seems to match the cartoon look the series has often used for promotional material. The DS seems to be particularly well suited to cel shaded games as a few have been released and, more often than not, they are the prettier games.

So far there are no details on the actual gameplay but I suspect this will be classic GTA stuff (walk around, steal a car, drive around, run stuff over, shoot stuff, get arrested by the cops, start again).

Before critiquing the screenshots remember that they are scans from a magazine so the quality is rather ropey. Real screenshots, hopefully being released by the developers, should be a lot nicer (clearer for sure).
