Regarding Challenge vs Frustration: I believe that the viewpoint if the author is that of a hardcore gamer because in casual games the idea is to remove all frustration but to maintain challenge that is scalable to the player (e.g. you can choose timed or relaxed mode, you can try to get the expert goals etc)
Jake » I agree with your hardcore v casual games thing. I’ve got to the stage (age?) where I don’t want to be challenged in the way I used too. I want to play, and enjoy games, but if I get stuck for more than ten minutes then I have neither the time or the patience to want to continue… so I don’t (or I find a cheat)
Yeah I resort to walkthroughs only when trying something for a certain period of time and failing. After using the walkthough for that one issue I continue playing as I’m not into cheating through the whole game.
