A thread over on the Retro Remakes forum caught my eye today. In it the member Ishi says he has to make a Dr Who themed game for coursework (at university).
To save you going there yourself - Ishi says he has been playing a lot of Mario games (specifically Mario 64, and Mario Sunshine) recently and was inspired to make a 3d platformer.
He posted a video alongside it and, whilst clearly very early, it looks like it could be a lot of fun. I really like the simple look of the levels - they remind me of Marble Madness and, more recently, Hamsterball. I suspect the graphics are place holders but I hope that he keeps something similar for the final product.
I have wanted to create a 3D platform game of my own for some time now (since Mario Sunshine actually), and I think this looks much the way I imagined my game would look. I wish I had more time so that I could make a go of it myself.

My son is going to go mental over this one. He love's doctor who and I've recently started watching it with him.
One of the best 3D platformers I ever played was Pandemonium on Playstation. Also Crash Bandicoot was pretty good. Both weren't free roaming though unlike Maximo which was also great.
