Donkey Kong – Barrel Blast

Another game from the recent mini E3 that slipped under my radar is Donkey Kong - Barrel Blast. A game whereby blast around some huge looking tracks, strapped to a pair of bongos. To accelerate you have to "play" the bongos quickly (by moving the Wiimote and Nunchuks in a drumming motion). Turning involves just playing one bongo (left to turn left etc).

The game looks a little crazy and, unfortunately, I have two concerns...

  1. It will cause more tiredness (or create more exercise) than Wii Sports
  2. It will break more tvs than Wii Sports

However, I'm all for getting fitter, and I reckon this would be great fun as a party game. Multiplayer bongo playing/ racing has to be the sport of the future!

  • Well I'd have to say Kudos to the developers for originality, it's a neat idea, but I honestly think a worry of tiredness will keep most gamers away.

Except, as you mentioned, for a party; crazy races with your friends are sooooo much fun, I think we'll see this game doing best in the multiplayer market.
