Dizzyage is an engine that allows people to make retro platform adventure games in the style of the classic Dizzy games that were so popular on the Spectrum and Commodore 64.

dizzy1Every year there is a competition for people to design adventure games using the engine, and this year’s competition has just began. Entries are due in before May 1st 2008 and winners will be announced on July 1st 2008.

dizzy2One of the prizes is way cool - it’s a special invitation to visit the Blitz Games offices, to be shown the latest games being developed and taken to lunch by The Oliver Twins! (The Oliver Twins created the first Dizzy games in the 80s.)

If you want to play some classic dizzy games now, check out the 2006 and 2007 competition winners. Some of them look very Spectrum-like (and are classic fun) and some look a bit more Amiga-ish. I just had great fun playing them!
