I’ve seen Dino Run on a few sites now and I checked it out of interest and was very pleasantly surprised. It’s a retro style game (in visuals and sound) where you play a dinosaur that must flee a pyroclastic flow that threatens to make you extinct.

Basically you run from left to right and jump over various obstacles and eat eggs and small animals along the way to keep you going. There’s loads of little hidden bonuses and unlockable achievements. Also there’s some groovy physics on the boulders which fall down and roll around, and trees which collapse, and exploding meteorites etc.

The game has a great feel to it and it makes you really feel panicky when the pyroclastic flow begins to get close and the screen goes red and the music is dimmed out by the roar of the danger! Try it out to see what I mean.

I managed to complete it (I think there were 7 levels) and reach my nice little underground haven at the end of the game.

PLEASE NOTE: This game didn’t work on my version of Firefox, but it dud work on IE6.

I was going to write a review of this. I have been beta testing it for a while and had a blast - it’s a fantastic game.

You can still write a more comprehensive review. I just thought it was great and had to post about it :-)
