Day of Disaster screenshots
Recently Nintendo has received a lot of flack for it’s attitude towards hardcore gamers, specifically after E3 where they showed very little (no) hardcore content. Shortly after E3 they responded, saying that they don’t like to build up hype for games until they’re ready to be played since inevitably it leads to disappointment when there are delays to the release.
On Monday this was shown to be true when the often forgotten Disaster: Day of Crisis was given a whole batch of screenshots.
Not much is known about the actual game beyond the fact that the hero is Raymond Bryce, a retired US marine who finds he has 24 hours to deal with SURGE, an ex-military terrorist with plans to steal vast amounts of nuclear weapons. Mixed in with the action are a variety of life-threatening natural disasters such as earthquakes, tsunami, volcanic eruptions, and floods - developer Monolith Soft also promises on-rails driving and shooting, as well as intense quick time event sections that all make use of the Wiinote and Nunchuck’s motion-sensitive controls.
The graphics are nothing particularly special (as seen in the screenshots below) but the game itself has a hugely intriguing plot, and as a game I have been interested in since the Wii was first announced I think it will be great to finally have a play. I just wish they hadn’t canned Project H.A.M.M.E.R.
Disaster: Day of Crisis is due for release in Europe on the 24th of October (no idea about dates in other territories, sorry).
