Conduit – Amazing FPS preview
Conduit is a first person shooter being developed for the Wii by High Voltage software, and it’s a technical triumph. The Wii is well known as being underpowered in the visual stakes so it’s great to see more complex, detailed games such as Conduit come along.
According to this interview with IGN, the developers want to do more with the Wii…
specifically, dynamic bump-mapping (via tangent space normals or embossing), reflection and refraction (via real-time cube or spherical environmental maps), light / shadow maps, projected texture lights, specular and Fresnel effects, emissive and iridescent materials, adva…
… or in simpler terms
With Conduit, we are trying to make a Wii game that looks like a 360 title
Personally I think it’s a way off XBox 360, and with the difference in specs it’s understandable, but it’s going a long way to being one of the prettiest games on the Wii.
Unfortunately the game has so far been entirely self funded, so hopefully a publisher will be found soon as it would be a shame to let something like this go to waste.
