Childsplay has recently started it's 2006 run. Childsplay is a charity drive created by the guys over at Penny Arcade, to bring toys and books to children's hospitals around the world. You can read more on their about page.
The UK hospital is the Royal Liverpool Children's NHS Trust - Alder Hey and I have sent them something from their Amazon wishlist. If you're not in England there are plenty of hospitals you can give to so head on over and take a look.
