Battlefield Heroes

Battlefield Heroes, for me started off looking like a simple test by EA. It looked like they were going to chuck out a quick free game, nothing special, just something to test the advertising model.

Now I’ve seen the trailer my opinion has changed. Yeah - it’s reminiscent of a certain game by Valve - but at the same time the cartoon look works really well, and is suitably different to stand on it’s own. The reduced complexity of the models also helps keep the games system requirements low, which is another important part of the offering. I’m really looking forward to trying it out - especially since it’s free. I think it would be great if more games went this way… but at the same time it reduces the desirability of Flash games.

I’m loving the people sitting on the wings of the planes, and the whole trailer has a sense of fun about it (you don’t download the game from Bittorent!)
