Game.GiveAwayOfTheDay.com has had a pretty poor selection recently so I’m pleased to be able to post a link to a pretty decent breakout clone called Ball 7. The game has some very nice firework-like explosions, I’m guessing they are pre-rendered but I’m paying close attention to them to see if I can make something like them in my own games. In this game you also have a bat on the side of the screen sometimes like an old C64 classic called Krakout - I loved that game.

Oh, it doesn’t install with a fancy installer, it merely asks you for a path and self-extracts. Therefore it doesn’t make an icon on the desktop or on your start menu. You’ll have to go to the folder you extracted the game in to run it (or make a shortcut to the game on your desktop).

Please Note: You have to download and install this today for it to be free.

Brilliant version of the arkonoid genre, it has some interesting features, and I’ve only played the first two levels

yeah later on you get two bats (even 4 on some levels) on on each side of the screen so you have to stop the ball bouncing off the other side yourself!
