10 (+2) reasons to own a ps3
McBacon over at the British Gaming blog has recently posted “10 reasons to own a PS3“, and there were some very cool looking games in the list… a number of which were even exclusive to the console.
Now that the GDC, along with Sony’s keynote speech has happened, it looks like there are two more reasons you can add to that list.
Playstation Home
Sony’s answer to Nintendos Miis, and what an answer it is! This has clearly been in development for a lot longer than The Wii has been out, so this time Sony didn’t copy. I would guess they were inspired by Animal Crossing and the Sims, but still this is on another level in terms of the interaction and personalization.

Little Big Planet
Little Big Planet is a physics driven game, based around user generated content and emergent gameplay. Developed by the same people who brought the world Rag Doll Kung Fu, this game looks great and, like it’s predecessor, has a large physics element. Basically you are given a world and the tools to manipulate and create, so you can create your own levels, then upload them to a planet hub where you can then play other peoples worlds.
All the objects you create the world with have real world behaviour and interact as you would expect. The game look great and I suspect will find a large audience (assuming more people start buying PS3’s). Personally this is the only reason I would buy a PS3!
