I first heard about 'The Game' on Sony's Playstation Blog, and it seemed like a very interesting concept; You choose to join one of two teams, simply named Team A or Team B. Once you have picked a team, you can get straight into the action and take part in challenges which consist of mini-games, and multiply choice quizzes, as well as creating challenges for other people to play.

From playing these challenges, you can earn points for your chosen team, so the more you play, the more points you can earn for you team and the better a chance your team can win the round. You can also earn points but creating challenges, and earn more points by people playing the challenges you have created.

There are four rounds in total with each round lasting 3 months and when a new round starts the points start from zero again. The Game is currently in Round 2... with Team B currently in the lead.

The teams consist people all around the work taking part in challenges and there are Facebook Fan Pages where each teams can discuss strategies and challenges, as well as use a Facebook App to customize your photos to look like you and your friends are wearing the Kit belonging to your team. The Facebook fan page also allows you to nominate yourself Team Leader, the Team Leader changes every week which gives more players the chance to lead the team to victory.

This all adds up to a big community game with lots of rivalry, and lots of fun games and challenges to play, Sign up is very easy, and it's free to join, so I would recommend signing up and taking part in this huge competition for bragging rights and rewards which are given out at the end of each round to the winning team and consist of various digital goodies.

I joined Team A, which team will you join?

There are hundreds if not thousands of match-3 type games in the world, but I think most people will have played, or at least heard of Bejeweled, a simple game to get into, but very addictive and hard to put down. It has now arrived on PlayStation Network for download. If you have played this on a PC then using the PlayStation pad to move around and swap gems takes a minute to get used, but no more than that.

The game initially starts with four game modes to choose from - Classic mode is your standard, match-3 mode removing gems by matching three or more horizontally or vertically and to progress to the next level you have to fill up a bar by matching and removing gems, you keep playing until you cannot perform anymore moves.

Action where you are against the clock, so you have to keep matching gems to keep the timer going, if the timer runs out then it is game over, this can get frantic as the timer starts to get gradually quicker, great fun.

Endless mode, is exactly what it says, unlimited moves, no time, nothing special, just ongoing fun.

My favourite, however, was Puzzle mode, where you have to remove gems which are placed in a specific way, this adds a bit more thinking to the game and gets quite challenging, there are many puzzles in this mode, and they get tricky as you progress, I spent many hours just playing this mode alone. You can get hints if you are stuck but you do lose points for this.

There are also a few secret modes to unlock as you progress through the game, which adds to the longevity of the game, but to be honest if they were not there, you will always come back to the original modes.

The visuals are crisp and clean and although in HD, they are nothing to shout about, but then it really doesn't need to look overly amazing as the gameplay gets you hooked early on. The voiceover guy sounds like he should be doing the voiceovers in a Mortal Kombat game, which is very amusing. There are leaderboards for all the modes so you can compare your score to your friends and other players around the world, and trophies are also available to collect.

If you know of Bejeweled then you will like this a lot, if you haven't it's worth downloading the demo to try it out. Basically this is an addictive little game you will dip into for 5 minutes, then realise you have been playing for hours!

I remember playing a lot of Time Crisis in the arcades when I was younger, it was brilliant, it was always a bit more expensive to play than other games, but was worth every penny. So, years later we now have Time Crisis on the iPhone and obviously there are two things missing, the light gun and the duck and cover foot pedal.

Namco have used the touch screen for shooting and the iPhone's tilt mechanism for duck and cover to replace these features. In the arcades when you used the duck and cover you could see some of the enemies and plan your next shot or which enemy to hit first, the tilting of the iPhone screen means you lose sight of the play area briefly which makes it difficult to see what's going on. and you really only end up using the tilt feature for reloading and not bother about taking cover.

Game play is solid and the on the rails gameplay is intact as you would expect, it looks and feels like Time Crisis of old. Tapping the enemies on screen to shoot them work as you would expect although some distant enemies are hard to hit but that is not really a big deal, saying that there is not really much strategy to it, and the game would be far too easy if it was not for the sheer rate of fire you come under as you play through the game.

There are 3 game play modes, Arcade (story mode) which there are only three levels, One Stage Trial, which lets you play either of the three levels once you have unlocked them and Crisis Mission which are mini missions which you complete one to unlock the next.

Overall the game is ok, even with the shortness of the game I don't think it will grab your attention for a great deal of time, saying that I think fans of the original Time Crisis may like it but nothing can replace the arcade experience which made these games popular in the first place.

Street Fighter is one of the most successful fighting game series ever. The range of characters, moves and a hidden depth of gameplay have made it popular among gamers for years. There have been many variants of Street Fighter over the years but the most popular has been Street Fighter II.

Street Fighter 4 aims to bring back the popularity of the series most popular game and it does so very well, it feels natural to play and is great fun. There are plenty of characters, a good selection of regular characters and a few new ones to boot, however you have to unlock many of them by playing through the story mode of the game using certain characters. There are also plenty of other items such as videos, artwork, costumes colours to unlock by completing the game with various fighters.

The game is easy to get into for both beginners and experienced Street Fighter players, although some of the combos can be a little tricky to work out, however once you work them out they are relatively easy to pull off. Some of the moves look amazing, especially the Ultra and Super Combos, these consist of 7 to 15+ hit combinations which damage your opponent quite considerably.

When you start a game with a character you see a short anime to set up the characters story for the game, and when you complete the game you see another anime to conclude that characters storyline. All the characters stories intertwine somehow along the way which encourages you to play as all of them. One downside of the game is difficulty of the characters varies; some characters are not as well balanced as others and are constantly harder to beat while others are very easy regardless of where you encounter them in the game.

Visually the game looks amazing, the characters are rendered in 3D despite the 2D game play, the visual style is very artistic and differs greatly from what we have we seen before from a fighting game. Fans of the Street Fighter series will love the game as it is a return to form, gamers who have not played any of the Street Fighter series should give it a go, just for the experience, the most fun of this game come in the two player mode. Single player is fun but once you have unlocked the majority of the characters the computer opponents just don't provide as much fun as playing the multiplayer mode.

If you are looking for a fun, challenging and visually impressive fighting game then I certainly recommend this over other fighting games, it is easier to get into than others but just as difficult to master, so this makes it an ideal choice for beginners and veterans alike.

I can't decide what the best bit about F.E.A.R 2: Project Origin is, the fantastic gun battles, or the spooky atmosphere it builds up in between these action packed fire-fights. Maybe it its a combination of the two, I just cannot make up my mind...

The gun battles are solid, action packed events with some great weapons, weapons that can be unforgivably brutal, especially the first time you hit an enemy with a shotgun at very close range. Explosive to say the least. The enemy AI is very clever, moving items in the environment to create somewhere for cover as you try to shoot them, you can also use the tables, chairs or even vending machines as cover, a press of the "A" button sees you tip the item over so you have somewhere to duck when coming under enemy fire. The enemy will also run around finding good spots to take some pot-shots at you, and they will even run away from grenades that you have thrown at them.

The controls are pretty standard for a first person shooter so you'll get to grips with it right away if you are a fan of the genre. After a while you also acquire a slow-motion ability and it works really well; allowing you to pick off enemies before they have time to react.

There are a variety of enemies as you progress; there are regular soldiers, which you will encounter early on who are also joined by mutants which are fast and more difficult to dispose of, as well as ninja soldiers, which have some sort of camouflage and can sneak up on you.

As probably given away by the title the horror element of the game is quite high, there are many jumpy moments in between the gun battles and there is a lot of tension as you are walking through abandoned blood stained hallways of the various environments. Occasionally you get visions of Alma, either as a little girl or grown woman, she is the main cause of the chaos and destruction you are witnessing, some of the scariest moments are when you walk down a corridor satisfied it is clear and then you come to a dead end, so you turn around only to see Alma in front of you for a split second, it really makes you jump and keeps you on your toes, peaking around every corner wondering if you really did you see something up ahead. After a while you do get used to these visions and it becomes a little less unnerving but it still builds the tension well.

The other thing that helps is the sound, the surround sound works well, footsteps, distant screams, doors slamming, and general cluttering about all occur and it really adds a 'something could happen any second now' feel to the game.

F.E.A.R 2 is a solid, fun, action packed title, and at times, scary, so if you like your frights, as well as some good old fashioned first person action then I would recommend this game.

Judging by his previous posts, Ben will be somewhat jealous as I have just downloaded a playable demo of Mirrors Edge on the PS3. [Editors note: Yes I am jealous...]

Even though the trailers and gameplay videos looked great I wanted to test the gameplay for myself, to see if it was as good as I imagined it could be, and wow, it's amazing! Once you master the short tutorial, which can be a little frustrating first time round, you will be running and jumping, slipping and sliding, all over the cityscape.

I played through the tutorial and the small portion of a mission they provide for the demo and on the first attempt I was falling, missing jumps and generally getting lost, but the second time around I was almost like Spiderman the way I leapt around the level. The controls are intuitive; one button for jump, one for duck and one for attack. You can use the buttons in combination to perform certain moves, for example L1 R1 L1 in quick succession allows you to run up a wall spin and grab an opposite ledge. You can also press L1 for jump then R2 in mid air for a kick, which is great if you jump and there is an enemy where you're about to land.

What I like most about this is that when I was being chased I really felt I had to run for my life, the first person view works extremely well in that regard. Levels in the demo are as you have seen in various trailers, crisp visuals, with not too many colours. White buildings, blue skies, red runner-vision items (these are what you need to look out for but not limited to using, when proceeding with your mission). I had some jerky redraw in some areas, but that maybe due to my standard definition tv, or at least I hope so.

This game looks impressive, and it is certainly on my forever growing list of games to purchase.

I love WipEout Games. They can be difficult to play but, with a little effort, oh so rewarding. WipEout HD is no different, it looks great, has a thumping soundtrack, and is quick as anything. The one thing that keeps me coming back to WipEout games is the sheer addictiveness and knowing you have been just half a second from a medal and it may be something small that cost you that half a second, a clip against the track wall or a badly timed speed boost, and you know you can get that gold medal so you keep playing until you do.

WipEout HD provides eight events to compete in and you must get a certain amount of points in each to unlock the next event, each of these events consists of various races and race types, ranging from single race, multi-race tournaments, to speed laps and time trials. One of the most tricky to succeed in is the zone race type, where you have no control over acceleration only steering and your air brakes. as you progress through the laps the speed increases gradually leaving you to rely on your reflexes to get you ship through to a medal place without destroying it, there are no power ups or health to help you, when your ship is out of shield it is game over.

Most of the races in each event are locked and you can unlock them by winning a gold, silver, or bronze medal in the currently unlocked races. When you manage to unlock a new event, you also unlock some goodies including new ships. If you stick with using one ship you do receive loyalty points, which in turn can buy you different paint jobs, unfortunately they do not make your favorite ship perform any better.

Each race type may be best approached by picking specific ships, but I think it is possible, albeit difficult to complete everything with the same vehicle. Races and tournaments against opponents are a fast and furious affair, weapons being fired left right and centre, explosions everywhere, cunning AI, it's a pleasure to watch it in action.

WipEout HD is not a new game, it'ss actually a compilation of tracks and teams from previous games, but with High Definition visuals, online play and a discount price, it is well worth it.

So how do you follow on and try to improve upon a hugely popular game title such as Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare?

Treyarch have chosen to go back to WWII for the latest incarnation of the popular Call of Duty series and to be honest, it may not be everyone’s first choice but it's not a bad thing. There would have been more scrutiny if they had kept the Modern Warfare theme, and many comparisons would have been made. Call of Duty 5 (COD5) Uses the same game engine as Modern Warfare, so there are a lot of similarities, and COD4 fans will feel right at home with the game interface and menus, as they are very similar.

Once in game you notice that everything is gritty, the 3 maps on offer in the Multiplayer Beta are a small Japanese style castle and grounds, a train yard / shipping yard environment with battered locomotives littering the area and finally, a beach side fishing village with huts on stilts, and jungle surroundings. They are all very unforgiving environments, no real places to hide while reloading or recovering from being hit. Add the grittiness and tension it sometimes feels like a survival horror game!

Gameplay is pretty much as you would expect, and as mentioned earlier uses the same features as Modern Warfare, it is almost like a different time period in the same game. Differences are; Artillery Strikes which replaced Air Strikes, very forceful when they hit and have a haunting wail as they come in. Instead of the chopper attack, there are attack dogs, which I don’t like much, it only takes one or two hits from a dog and you die and they can't be eliminated in the same way the dogs in Call of Duty 4 can. The Dogs will find you no matter where you try to hide, and if you kill them they respawn for a certain time period, unlike the choppers, which you could shoot down.

Other features remain the same, challenges, ranking systems perks and weapon unlocking. One thing I do like is the Nemesis box on the results screen, it lets you know who killed you the most within that round so you can exact some revenge in the next round!

Weapons are standard WW2 fare, I noticed some players had Molotov Cocktails, and the fire effects are impressive, using your melee attack to knife other players just sounds more brutal than the swish sound they had in COD4. It is a shame the Flame Thrower is not featured in the Beta, as that looks like an impressive weapon.

Overall I think this will be a popular game, it is certainly better than both COD2 and COD3, only time will tell if it can top Modern Warfare in terms of popularity.

Metal Gear Solid 4 has arrived, some people will love it, some people will hate it. I, for one, am a fan of the series.

I remember playing a demo of Metal Gear Solid on PlayStation 1 many years ago, I had never played anything like it before, the way it opened up like a movie, the gameplay was clever, the mix of sneaking and action was well balanced and the demo ended with a cliffhanger cutscene... I was hooked and wanted more... needless to say it was a game I purchased and played multiple times.

So, what does MGS4 and Solid Snake's "final" mission bring to the table...

Well, from the opening act of the game you notice how brilliant the game looks, the attention to detail is fantastic and from watching the opening cutscene, you find yourself in control of 'Old Snake' infiltrating a warzone to find and assassinate Liquid Ocelot. Snake is disguised as one of the local militia, who are fighting against the invading PMC (Private Military Company), The fact that neither PMC or local Militia are your enemy means you do not really need to get involve in the war raging around you however if you are spotted by the PMC they will fire upon you and hunt you down. On the other hand helping the Militia by taking out the PMC troops will work in your favour and you can walk freely among them without fear of being shot at, but shooting at Militia will mean that both forces will be after you if they see you!

I have to say this is the best looking game I have seen so far, I think Call of Duty 4 comes close but this is something else. The transition from the opening cutscene to gameplay is seamless and its very impressive in some places. The first time you play the opening level is very intense, with large, rampaging, unmanned bipedal tanks called Gekko stalking you through the war torn streets with the rousing musical score adding to the increasing tension.

So what's new in MGS4?

First of all, Snake has aged somewhat since we saw him last in MGS2, we later learn this is due to nanomachines which he was injected with in MGS.

The Controls have been tweaked, with an over the shoulder aiming system in place which allows you to switch shoulders as you move around, this is handy for aiming while walking through built up areas. You can switch to first person mode at any time for a more accurate shot at your enemy.

Another modification to the game is the weapons and upgrade system, the weapons found on the battlefield are usually ID locked which requires you to pay a visit to Drebin, a gun launderer, he will unlock weapons in exchange for Drebin Points, these points you can accumulate by picking up multiples of the same weapon which Drebin takes off you. With these points you can purchase weapons and extra ammo, even during an intense set piece or boss battle. Weapons can also be customized with the same system so you can add such things as silencers and scopes to your weapons.

Standard Crouch and Prone moves are present as always with the added moves such as edging sideways while prone and rolling sideways while prone. You can even roll onto your back and fire your weapon or throw grenades from there.

The OctoCamo suit is a camouflage suit Snake wears throughout the game, its technology is based on the camouflage tactics that some species of octopus use to blend in with their surroundings. This suit comes in handy for evading PMC troops or Gekko by blending in with any background or surface with the touch of a button. A nice touch is that if you want to remove the pattern the suit picked up when you last used it, you can shake the PS3 controller and the it will blend back to its normal state, this can be done mid cutscene too.

CQC or Close Quarters Combat has been streamlined since its introduction in MGS3, It is a lot easier to use this time round and you will find yourself using it when a PMC Soldier just won't move from his post! There are various moves; disarm, choke, throw to the ground, hold up and search for items, throat cut and many more. All CQC moves depend on which weapons you are holding at the time.

So Far so good, but it can't be all good can it? In a word, no, as always throughout the Metal Gear series there are cutscenes that pop up in between short sections of gameplay, which can be a little frustrating having only walked a short distance, as well as the longer cutscenes normally at the end of each act, however in MGS4 they are some of the best you have ever seen, most are action packed, well directed and add to the story and overall experience nicely. The one major downside is the long Mission Briefings which is normally a conversation between Snake and Otacon about what to do and where to go next, while these are playing it does show a more human and vulnerable side to the ageing Snake, they can drag on a little. Whilst they are talking you can take the Mk II (A remote control robotic device) for a spin around the briefing area and pick up items which you can use in game, such as extra ammo and rations.

Once the game has finished there are a series of cut scenes that tell you what is happening to the surviving characters - the cutscenes total a little over an hour, fans of the series will watch and appreciate all the loose ends being tied up, but newcomers may not have a clue what is going on as a lot is covered from previous games.

That aside the rest of the game is simply awesome, old characters make welcome appearances Metal Gear regulars like Johnny and Colonel Campbell are there also, and the new characters are welcome additions, even the shaved, nappy wearing, soda drinking monkey!

Some of the below may be classed as spoilers but I count them as some of the highlights of the game - highlight the text to read it.

There are many memorable moments in the game from where you first encounter Gekko to an exhilarating motorbike chase set piece through an Eastern European city, my personal favorite is a trip back to Shadow Moses Island from MGS on PS1, which they have recreated perfectly. Another nice touch is that by this point you will have Young Snake FaceCamo so you can bring back those fond memories of the first game while playing as Snake just as you did back then. Raiden's fights with Vamp are nothing short of exciting and taking control of Metal Gear Rex and doing battle with Liquid in his Metal Gear Ray is great fun as well as the Final Boss which is simply brilliant, a brutal fist fight where both Snake and Liquid get increasingly worn out as the fight goes on.

All in all the new Metal Gear game is more of what series has given us up until now, however it has been fine-tuned, tweaked and perfected playable in any way you like, stealthily sneaking or all guns blazing, the choice is yours and despite its small frustrations this is a fitting finale to Solid Snakes story, a truly a brilliant cinematic gaming experience.

The main issue with games like Football Manager is the endless screens of stats, and not a lot else, but at the end of the day it is these comprehensive stats, up to date leagues, teams and players that make the game what it is.

The interface for the most part is easy to navigate and the menus let you get to all the different screens (tactics, transfers, news, and even you very own inbox) with relative ease. You will receive updates often from your board of directors and they will let you know what they expect from you in terms of success. You also receive information from a fan spokesperson keeping you up to date on how confident the fans are with you as a manager and how the team is progressing.

Other feedback comes from scouts keeping a watchful eye on new talent and potential new players and assistant managers will give you feedback from training sessions of your current squad, you even have media speculation, with comments from players who are reportedly unhappy with their current club and other such realistic media snippets.

Once you have chosen your team and picked your tactics it is time for kick off, and you see a top down view of a football field with your players represented by their shirt numbers moving around. Although at first it can be a little dull to watch, you start to see mistakes by your players or holes in your defence or other areas which you could fix with a change of tactics or personnel. This is where the game sucks you in, the endless tweaking for perfection, each team you play against will require you to look at your tactics and adjust your team set up accordingly, you will wonder where some three or four hours of the afternoon went…

Thinking like a manager may seem easy for those of you who support a football team and watch football matches week in week out but you will realize there is a lot more depth to the game than a change of formation and the odd substitution. Even confidence has an effect on players and the team; a player low on confidence will not perform well. Unhappy players will not play to their full potential either, so keeping everyone happy, especially your star players is a must.

Football Manager 2008 does a fine job and with an impressive database of information, lots of features too look out for this is certainly worth a look even if you do have older versions of the game.
