I don't know how long I will post about video games here, but I have recently been noticing an increasing number of games that interest me, so I thought I would start writing about them once more.

Add to that a new design, a modification of my premium WordPress theme called Byline, and the site has a fresh new look that will fit right into this modern internet age.

If anyone wants to write for the site then please just let me know and I will see how things go.

This really wasn't what I wanted to happen whilst I am on holiday but thankfully I was able to work it all out (with the help of Dreamhost support). I'm just glad I've made a habit of checking my sites every morning as this wasn't something that would have fixed itself.

Thanks to Jo for her understanding whilst I get things up and running again - You're the best Jo!

As well as playing Super Mario Galaxy these last couple of days I have been developing a brand new feature for the site. It's something I have wanted to add for a while now so it's good to finally finish it off. It's proved to be quite a headache getting everything worked out so I hope there are no bugs... (famous last words).

The new feature is a reader rating system. On game reviews you will find a brand new dropdown box allowing you to add a rating to games. To use it all you have to do is make a comment as normal, and in that process select a score. If you don't want to rate a game then just leave the box as it is.

I guess I should label this as a "beta" feature, but that's so 2007.

Hopefully it's all nice and simple and will just "work". Let me know if you have any questions or problems.

In the interests of privacy I shan't name the winners since I only have their email addresses, but the answer to the question is... <drum roll>

Muhammad Ali

Interestingly the first person to contact me with the correct answer has yet to respond to my email asking him to claim his prize, so I now have the entire series of Ricochet to give away. I shall email him once more, and if I don't get a response will start thinking about something else to do with the games... maybe another competition or prize draw of some sort. If you have any better ideas please let me know in the comments.

Today we see the first review (of Atlantis Sky Patrol) from Long Tran, our brand new Mac game reviewer.

I have been a fan of Longs website, Electro^Plankton, for quite some time - and we got to talking a couple of months ago. When he complained about the lack of Mac reviews on Binary Joy I figured I had just the person to fill the void... and he quickly accepted.

Long will be primarily reviewing Mac games. Often Mac games have a pc counterpart, occasionally he will be playing Mac exclusives so watch out for those too.

Welcome L.T. I look forward to seeing the many reviews I'm sure you will write

I have done some work on the site today, most of which you won't care about, but I thought that I would mention them so I can get feedback where required. I won't bore you with the smaller technical things, but will mention the larger things you may actually notice.

Starting from the least important and working up...

The different categories on the homepage now link to their respective category pages. Most of them had a link elsewhere, but the main one that didn't was the site news (I know - your favorite section!) so now you can read all the really interesting news updates you missed the first time around.

I have added the dofollow plugin. This borders on the technical but what it means for you is that when you comment on the site and leave your site url it will be posted for all to see WITHOUT the nofollow property. This means Google, and other search engines, will follow the link, hopefully improving your standing on the web - so get commenting (spamming will still be blocked - we don't like spammers!)

Finally I have added a subscribe to comments feature. This is a small experiment as I've never used anything like this before, but essentially it lets you get email alerts for comments, so if there is a topic that interests you, then you can get updated when new people post something. I think I will try adding this to my personal website as well.
